Pi Kappa Alpha – 144 Years of Excellence

Happy founders day Pi Kappa Alpha!

Wow, ten years have passed by so fast! It was 2002, my second year of college, wandering around Cal Poly Pomona campus as a nerdy, engineering student. I knew that college was not just about study, study, study, but more of a balance with social life and the experience of college. In Fall of 2002, I joined the best Fraternity in the nation of the United States, Pi Kappa Alpha (Pike). I did not know what I was to expect nor did I know what a Fraternity was. My dorm mate introduced me to the group of men in the Fraternity and welcomed me to many events during rush week. I accepted my bid and pledged to become a brother of the Fraternity.

Many people look down on Fraternities because of the stereotypes behind them. In actuality, my experience as a Pike created me to become a Scholar, Leader, Athlete, and Gentleman (SLAG). I remember being part of the Executive Council, Social Chairman, Rush Chairman, Pledge Board, and a contributor of intramural sports (Football, Basketball, and Volleyball). We served countless hours in raising money for different philanthropies as well. The leadership and experience also pushed me to become Vice President of my undergraduate Engineering Club.

The positions I served in the Fraternity helped me with real life situations after college. I landed my first job during the rough times of Americas recession. I created my own team for March of Dimes to raise money for children. I’ve networked with many people in creating long lasting friendships. I am part of the White Rabbit Truck business. I have DJ’d for corporate, celebrity, and international events. The list can go on and on… Live your dream!

Thank you Pi Kappa Alpha, Kappa Psi chapter, for the wonderful college memories and teaching me SLAG!

Ode to a Pledge

“Yesterday is gone forever.
Tomorrow is yet to be.
The destiny of Pi Kappa Alpha
Rests, today, with thee.”
